AMT 0709C - Aviation Maintenance Technology General II
Prerequisite(s): Acceptance into the Aviation Maintenance Technician Corequisite(s): AMT 0708C Introduces aircraft hardware and materials, hand tools, precision measuring tools, fluid lines and fittings, and safety wire methods, aircraft records and federal aviation regulations, and maintenance publications, steps in the heat treatment process, aircraft ground operations, fuels, cleaning and corrosion control methods, weight & balance, and performance of non-destructive testing. Emphasis is on identification and selection of aircraft hardware, fabrication and inspection of flexible and rigid fluid lines, and safety wiring on bolts and turnbuckles. Upon completion, students should be able to use precision measuring tools, fabricate and install rigid and flexible fluid lines, select, and identify proper aircraft hardware, properly perform safety wiring on bolts and turnbuckles, complete required FAA maintenance forms and records and inspection reports, select and use FAA and manufacturer’s aircraft specifications, data sheets, manuals, publications, and related material, identify heat treatment process, select fuels, identify, and select cleaning materials and perform aircraft cleaning, handle, secure, and perform engine start-up of aircraft or trainer, compute weight & balance, and perform non-destructive testing.
