Program Description
The Technical Certificate in Health Care Informatics Specialist (HIS-CT) provides the student with the practical skills necessary for careers as entry level Healthcare Informatics Specialists. This certificate program also provides supplemental training for persons previously or currently employed in related health record or information technology occupations. This program uses a combination of lecture and laboratory instruction.
Program Information
The program is composed of selected college credit courses offered within the Associate in Science degree in Health Information Technology (HIT-AS). A student first will be admitted to Pensacola State College, and after satisfying all admission requirements for this program, the student is considered for admission to the program.
Program Admission Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED; and
- College Application.
When the student has met the program admission requirements, the student’s application is evaluated by the Office of Admissions.
Program Progression Requirements
Progression through the College Credit Certificate in Health Care Informatics Specialist program requires the following.
- A grade of C or higher in courses in the curriculum.
Program Completion Requirements
- Earn a cumulative grade point average of 2.0 or better in all courses applicable to the program of study.
- Meet the academic residence requirement of completing at least 25% of the program with classes at Pensacola State College.
