STS 1304C - Operating Room Techniques
Prerequisite(s): Acceptance into the Surgical Services program and completion of the program’s semester one core courses with a C or better. Corequisite(s): None A combined classroom and laboratory course. Introduces techniques and processes involved in the preoperative, perioperative, and postoperative phases of surgical technology. Topics include operating room furniture, equipment, surgical scrub, gowning and gloving, development of the sterile field, patient positioning, surgical skin prep, and draping. The student will be required to simulate a surgical procedure from beginning to end. A satisfactory performance is mandatory for the student to advance in the program.
