CHM 1045 - General Chemistry I
Prerequisite(s): CHM 1020 or CHM 1025 or approval of department head based on completion of high school chemistry. Corequisite(s): MAC 1105 and CHM 1045L This course is designed for students pursuing careers in the sciences or who need a more rigorous presentation of chemical concepts than is offered in any introductory course. Students will engage in problem solving and critical thinking while applying chemical concepts. Topics include, the principles of chemistry, including the atomic theory, electronic and molecular structure, measurement, stoichiometry, bonding, periodicity, thermochemistry, nomenclature, solutions, and the properties of gases. Semester Hours: 3 credit hours Semester Offered: Fall, Spring, Summer Fees: None Course Designations: College Transfer. Meets AA General Education Core, Natural Sciences (Physical Sciences) requirement.
